The situation is serious, we need action!
Our coordinators based in South Africa are sounding the alarm : “The winter months have unfortunately not brought in the rain to the Western Cape this season as we had hoped, and Cape Town and surrounds now faces the worst drought we have had in decades. ” “If everyone does not work together, we will have a bucket of water each, only, to work with per day. It is very serious.” So what can each of us do to help?
“Be a hero, wash in (under) 5’!”
Washing in 2 minutes is possible! By achieving this eco-friendly, civic and solidarity gesture (considering over two billion people in the world do not currently have access to drinking water), you can save about 40 litres of water compared to the average standard shower time of 9 minutes in France.
Making efforts in order to reduce one’s own water consumption can also be a token of respect towards local people who often cannot access this invaluable and rare natural resource. Let’s follow their example!
Taking part in the Wash in 5’ Challenge allows you to practise saving water daily, especially before visiting countries which are facing alarming water shortages.
Designed by the NGO Kynarou, this challenge encourages you to shower in under 5 minutes and post a selfie doing a high five gesture on social media when you have successfully met the challenge.
Ready to take on this challenge? Take part in the Wash in 5’ Challenge with GlobAlong and send us your pictures with the hashtags #washin5 and #globalong.
Thank you for caring!
