March 8th is International Women’s Day and this year, innovation lies at the heart of the movement aiming at encouraging gender equality worldwide.
#BalanceforBetter is a call-to-action in favour of gender balance in all fields.
Gender inequality is a major issue that stems from the imbalance in education opportunities for girls and boys – as girls from disadvantaged backgrounds have less opportunities to thrive academically, professionally and economically than boys – which needs to be addressed as this situation may have a big impact on social development in many countries.
By highlighting the importance of girls’ and women’s rights, such as the right to an education, especially in developing countries, girls and women can become innovation pioneers and promote change in their society.
Moreover, boys and men may join in this inclusive social movement by supporting women’s rights actively – by supporting their daughter’s, wife’s, sister’s, cousin’s, friend’s or collegue’s rights – in order to achieve social, economic and cultural equality goals together.
We can all benefit from living in more equalitarian societies!
