Kelsey, a volunteer in India with GlobAlong, shares her experience with us!

Hello,

My name is Kelsey. I went on a mission in India for a few weeks.

I thouroughly enjoyed observing and helping as needed. I don’t believe there was clear direction on the level of involvement that is desired/expected of the volunteers to the degree of intervention. Regardless, I feel my experience was incredibly rewarding.

My experience with the host family has been incredibly memorable and the perfect amount of support throughout my time in Bangalore. The living arrangements and daily meals have exceeded my need(s) and I am most thankful for the time shared with them.

The highlight of my volunteering experience was the exposure to a specialized school, observing their teaching methods and becoming aware of services available to this population.

I also appreciated the level of support from my project coordinator/host family.
They supported me enough to feel safe, but also encouraged me to adjust and push beyond my comfort zone.
I would of course recommend this program and this organization for the various reasons listed previously.

I feel that my coordinator (Dwarkahita) was incredibly kind when showing me around, sharing cultural and historical information and being available should I needed anything. The teacher worked alongside with at the school was amazing. Manjula really welcomed me above and beyond anyone at the school and was open to my role/assistance.

Thank you! My time here has forever impacted my heart.

Kelsey
